Eight years

Moving around the world has been an adventure!  One of our greatest adventures so far, but our first adventure was 8 years ago when we said "I do!"
Last month Jason and I celebrated 8 years of marriage.  I mentioned it briefly on Facebook, but I want to take a minute and really tell you what our last 8 years have been like...

When we stood at the alter on that cold October afternoon, I had NO CLUE what the future held. Jason had been applying to medical school so I knew, or thought I knew, where that path would lead, but I never imagined it would lead here.

Medical school was tough, on him, on me and our marriage. Those first few years of marriage  is when a couple really gets to know each other.  Our first few years were strained. Long days of class and long nights of studying led to lots of stress and fights. We lived separate lives for a while. After Gavin was born Jason was on rotations away from home.  Gavin and I saw him on weekends mostly. I also had post-partum depression. BUT we not only survived, we grew in our marriage.  We put God first in our lives and our marriage, and He blessed so much.  God gave us a GREAT church and AMAZING friends, who turned out to be more like family, who encouraged us and set godly examples of what marriage should be.

Upon graduation we moved from Tennessee to Florida.

Residency held promises of long hours and short weekends, both of which held true.  Eli was a great addition to our family in January 2012, but even the joy of a new baby could not bring Jason out of what we call "the dark place." He struggled to connect with Eli because they never saw one another. Jason was overloaded and couldn't see the light at the end. And I again struggled with post-partum depression. Let us not forget about all of Eli's kidney issues and  subsequent surgeries.  During all these trials we had no family around to help alleviate any stress; but again our God showed us how much He loved and cared for us. He led us to another incredible church with amazing people.
(Oh we also had yet another baby, Holden, you think we would have some self control :)

Once residency came to an end we packed up and moved around the world to Okinawa, Japan.
So here we are 8 years later; 4 moves, 3 states, 2 countries and 3 kids.  We have finally come to a place in our marriage where we can be married.  I have joked for years that if  added up all the time we actually spent together we have only been married about 3 years.

Eight years. Eight long but some how short years. I love Jason and respect him now more than I ever could have thought possible. I have and will continue to follow this man around the world.  I am ready for many more adventures!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary to the most amazing man!  I love him more than words could truly express.  Five years have come and gone far too quickly.  It seems like yesterday I was getting ready to walk down the aisle to say "I DO!"  Too much has happened during the last five years to write about it all, but here are some of the highlights

Our journey began in Calculus class at Hillsdale College in the fall of 2001.  After a few years of ups and down we finally realized that we were made for another.  Jason proposed while we are out hiking a trail during my senior year of college in March 2006.
We walked down the aisle October 14, 2006.  That day was only the beginning of our journey.
A month after we married Jason was accepted to medical school at Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine.
We moved to Harrogate, TN the summer of 2007.  That same year Jason joined the Navy.
January 9, 2010 we welcomed the first addition to our family, Gavin Robert Croad.
May 14,  2011 Jason went from Jason Croad to Dr. Jason Robert Croad, DO.
July 2011 We made our first Military move to Orange park FL where Jason is working as a Family Practice intern.
Currently we await the arrival of our second baby boy.

We have cried, laughed, stressed, worried, fought,  and rejoiced together.  There is no one else that I would rather go through life with than Jason.  He grounds me and lifts me up at the same time.  I am so blesses to be married to such a wonderful man! We are only at the beginning of "Our Adventure", and I can't wait to see where we go!

Beach Baby

After living in Jacksonville for a couple of months we finally made it out to the beach. And we had a blast. The sun was hot, and the water was perfect. Gavin loved the beach.

What a week

This last week was quite a week. Where to begin?
We have been waiting for a check for about 3 1/2 weeks.  I had made several phone calls trying to track down this check and we finally found it, in our mail box in TN (it was not supposed to be there.) We needed that check so we could write a check for the deposit on the house we will be renting in Jacksonville.  So that is one thing I can check off my list of things to worry about.

Another BIG thing on our list of worries was payday.  Jason hasn't received a paycheck in a month, which makes life a little challenging for Gavin and myself.  On Tuesday, Jason sent me a note telling me we WOULD be getting paid! YEAH!  Okay I can check that off the list.
This is what Jason looks like these days, what a hunk.

So far this week sounds really great... oh wait it gets better keep reading.

On Wednesday I go to hang with my niece and nephews while my sister and brother-in-law celebrated 15 years of marriage.  Congrats to them (and my parents who celebrated 37 years of marriage)!
Okay, that wasn't all that exciting but it is sweet!
Back to the good stuff...
Jason and I have been trying to sell/rent our house in Harrogate, TN since March.  We had some bumps along the way but we finally rented the house! ( I know there are a lot of exclamation points but I am really loving last week!!)

By now you are thinking, that's it there can't be more, right?  Well you are very wrong.

I AM PREGNANT!! Baby Croad #2 is on it's way!!
Baby #2 is expected to arrive on February 12, 2012! (and for those keeping track Feb 12 was Gavin's due date)

So all in all last week was a WIN!!

Electronically Challenged?

I tend not to think of myself as electrically challenged... however, I have been taking pictures on my cell phone for almost two years and I just know learned how to get them from the phone to the computer.  I think that might make me challenged.  Here some of those photos:

Time to catch up... Part 1

Well a lot has happened since the last post.  Two of the biggest things are: Gavin turned 1, and Jason turned 30.
Gavin had an amazing birthday!  We had lots of family come into town and we had lots of friends come party with us.
Gaivn's birthday party theme was vintage Fisher-Price.
This is the cake that I made.  (It is supposed to look like the stacked rings)
He got lots of gifts from lots of GREAT people.

He had a great time with all of his friends

He loved eating his cake... Face first!

It was a great day.  After we cleaned up his party we headed over to the roller skating rink for Jason's "surprise" Party.  (He accidentally found out about it about a week before)
It was an 80's themed roller skating party.  We have some great friends who came looking like this for the party!

Jason was blown away by everyone who came out.  It was a great time.
